Planning Photo Shoot Blog Post #2 - Equipment, location, timing, models, etc.

For my photo shoot, I plan on taking pictures of Latin music CDs here in my house (not the actual CDs, but maybe have them stacked up) so that I can talk about maybe the impact of Latin music in America or something like that. Also, another location will be my computer, since I plan on doing digital renderings of famous Latino Artists. For my equipment, I will simply use my smartphone camera and maybe the Portrait Mode that the phone has (it basically creates a depth of field and I could use it to maybe focus on a stack of CDs from Latin artists while the blurred/out-of-focus background is the outside of my house or something.) As far as models go, there won’t really be models. Since it's in the front/inside of my home, the CDs will be the main object/subject. Also, I guess my other models will be the digital renderings/drawings of the Latin artists.

Planning Photo Shoot Blog Post #1 - My Idea/Concept/Plot

For my photo shoot which I plan on doing, my concept is to go outside my home (front yard maybe) and take stills/professional photos of the outside AS WELL AS having Latin Music CDs stacked up and focused on, since my magazine will be talking about music and artists (specifically, Latino  artists). I could then (in the magazine) talk about how Latino music has impacted here in the US. However, not all of my pictures will be actual photos taken on a camera device. I actually plan on doing digital renderings of actual famous Latino artists (Bad Bunny, Karol G, etc.) and hopefully they turn out good enough for what I aim to accomplish with my magazine. For these types of pictures of the famous artists, since I can’t use a picture simply from the internet, I will trace over a picture of said artist in photoshop and add my own style to it. I think the idea of actually having a cartoon rendering of artists is very interesting and I got my idea from Rolling Stone magazine, the magazine that I

Planning Blog Post #2 - Table of Contents and Feature Spread

Image
Table of Contents sketch: Feature Spread sketch: To commence, I will talk about the Table of Contents page. When I saw the TOCs in the Rolling Stone Magazines, one of them was seamlessly blended in with the main image of that page: I, however, will not make my TOC like that. Instead, I will make it more like the other 2 Rolling Stone Magazine TOCs: As can be seen, these 2 TOCs have a clear separation between the main image and the rest of the page info for the continued pages. I will try to have a similar layout to that. Also, the main image on this page will not be the same as the cover page. I also intend for this page's colour scheme to be colorful, vibrant, and luminant (whether it be the main image or the actual page outline/layout.) Now, I will move on to the feature spread. My idea for the feature spread was to maybe draw a rendition of a Latino artist's entire face (down to about the shoulder area) and the page on one side would hav

Planning Blog Post #1 - Cover

Image
My magazine's name will be LATINX+. The font used on the cover and pretty much everywhere in the magazine will most likely be Sans Serif (despite what the sketch says), since it is more modern-looking and I feel it will complement the magazine better. My intended/planned colour scheme for the cover is to have the Masthead be a blue colour, with the + at the end being either a darker or lighter shade of blue (for example: LATINX + ). As for the rest of the colour scheme (main image, etc.), I do not know that yet since I have not begun taking any pictures or designing the cover page. Since my magazine will talk about Latin American artists, an idea i had for the cover's Main Image is to go to a record store and take a picture of a Latino aisle in the store, or if I am making it artist-specific, then maybe a professional portrait picture of a stack of their albums, etc. There will be no strap line and also no cover line, since I want the magazine to have a basic/simplistic lo
