 To commence, I chose Rolling Stone magazine, since it was in the same genre as what I plan to make my magazine on (Music Genre). I will be comparing 3 different covers from Rolling Stone today, and will be taking a look at the different aspects of these covers and the codes/conventions that Rolling Stone utilizes to make their magazine truly theirs. My own magazine that I have planned is not that different from Rolling Stone, the only difference being that Rolling Stone not only has artists from a wide variety of genres, but also talks about different topics, like politic, while my magazine will focus exclusively on Hispanic artists and will not venture out into different topics other than music and possibly their lives, so my magazine will resemble the Jack White Rolling Stone Cover (picture above) the most out of the three.  Now, I will discuss basic codes and conventions for Rolling Stone and will be focusing on these 3 magazines. Photo Editing Blog Post

In these two pictures, the first one is the unedited picture, the second one is "in the process" of being edited, and the second one is after I edited it. I not only added a depth of field effect using the iPhone XS's Portrait Mode, but I also corrected the lighting by adding a "Studio Light effect" (That's the name of the effect on the iPhone, and can be seen in the 2nd picture).  Like this, you can see more of the actual setting/background itself and is more luminant. On the TOC and Feature Spread page for one or two of the Rolling Stones' magazines, it also had this effect and also had a depth of field edit/blur to it, so that's why I did it here. I added a depth of field blur effect to emphasize a focus on the discs in front of the camera, and then the plants in the background, etc. were not in focus because it is not what I am aiming to represent in these photos. I feel like our magazine analysis project really helped me with everything having to do with the blog and our actual magazines that we will have to design. I used to think magazine mastheads and things like the overall design centered around magazines weren’t important aspects of a magazine, and I thought they were pretty random based on each magazine publisher/seller; but I’ve come to find that it actually plays a role in things like one’s target audience, message, etc.
